Text ACCIDENT

No claim on your policy. No excess.

The at-fault driver's insurer pays for the repair, the replacement car and our work. Your own insurer never sees a claim from you.

Premiums usually rise when you make a claim on your own policy. With us, you don't.

A car for the whole repair, at no cost to you.

A car for the whole repair.

If your car isn't roadworthy, you get a replacement in the class you normally drive, delivered to you, for as long as the repair takes.

Is my car roadworthy?

Who this is for

  • The other driver was at fault
  • The accident happened in Victoria
  • You live in metropolitan Melbourne

Insured or not. Businesses, rideshare drivers and cars you don't own included.

Third party only, or uninsured? Still works.

If someone else caused the accident, the repair and the replacement car are their cost, not yours.

What's the catch? There isn't one.

We charge our recovery fee to the at-fault driver's insurer, along with the repair and the hire. That's how we're paid. Not by you.

Why not just call my insurer?

You can, and if the accident was your fault, you should.

If it wasn't, claiming on your own policy means paying your excess, taking whatever hire car your policy allows, and using a repairer your insurer picks. The other driver's insurer is responsible for all of that. We recover it from them instead.

Will my premium go up?

Premiums usually rise when you make a claim on your own policy. With us, you don't. The at-fault driver's insurer pays, so there's no claim on your record and no excess. Every insurer sets its own rules, so check your policy if you want to be sure.

Is this legal? Is it normal?

Yes to both. We've helped 5,000+ drivers.

When someone else damages your car, they're responsible for the repair and for the time you're without it. That's ordinary law, not a loophole. Your own insurer uses the same rule every day: when you claim with them for an accident that wasn't your fault, they go and recover the money from the other driver's insurer. We do the same thing, except we do it for you directly, so you skip the excess and the claim on your policy.

Recovery agents and replacement car providers have operated in Australia for years. The Financial Rights Legal Centre, an independent consumer body, explains how it works and what to watch for here: Courtesy cars after an accident. Read it. It's the honest version, and we're comfortable with you reading it before you call us.

What if I only have third party cover?

Third party cover only pays for damage you cause to other people. It does nothing for your own car when someone hits you. That's where we come in: we recover the repair and the replacement car from the at-fault driver's insurer, and you never needed a policy of your own to do it.

Which cars count as unroadworthy?

If your car isn't roadworthy under Victorian road rules, you're entitled to a replacement for as long as the repair takes. A broken light, a cracked mirror or a door that won't latch can make a car unroadworthy even if it still drives.

Already sorted with your repairer?

If your repairer is already dealing with the insurer, you can still come to us for the car.

It doesn't matter whether your policy includes a hire car or not. If the other driver was at fault and your car isn't roadworthy, you're entitled to a replacement for the whole repair, and their insurer pays for it. Many of our customers come to us for the car only.
